The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Piepmeier will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014.

The MINISTER will be Pastor Tony Reynolds.

VISITATION will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

A MASONIC SERVICE will be presented by the Appleton City Masonic Lodge #412 A.F. & A.M.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, MO.

Wright Bailey Piepmeier, age 89, was born on December 15, 1924 to Otto and Luna Pearl (Bailey) Piepmeier in rural Appleton City, MO. Wright departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Lee's Summit, MO.

Wright attended school at the one room Hudson school house near Appleton City. His grandfather, Wright Bailey, gave him a horse to ride to school which he proudly did so on a daily basis. After his schooling, Wright helped on the family farm before beginning a career at the Kansas City Stock Yards, then returning to the rural Appleton City area where he farmed and raised cattle until retiring. Raising cattle and farming were Wright's passion. There was rarely a Thursday that he missed a sale at the sale barn. He was well known and respected for his knowledge of cattle, futures, and commodities. Wright was also a constant at the local coffee shops where he would enjoy a glass of iced tea and listen to the latest news from around town.

After dating Maxine Roberts for over two years, they eloped to Fort Scott, KS on Maxine's birthday, March 6th, 1947. Maxine's father offered to pay for a church wedding or they could elope and he would buy them a house and farm. They opted for the two story stone house on the Schuman Farm east of Rockville, MO. A farm they cherished and still own today.

Wright was affiliated with the Ararat Shrine Temple since 1982, member of the Bates County Shrine Club, member of the Golden VIPs Shrine Club, a 32 degree Master Mason member of the Kansas City Scottish Rite Body and Bates County Cattlemen's Association. Countless times he has made calls to the Shrine Hospitals to arrange care for needy families in the Appleton City area and many times anonymously donated funds to assist with the family's care.

Wright was preceded in death by his parents, Otto E. and Luna Pearl Piepmeier, his sister Jo Frances Piepmeier-Ward and her husband William Ward.

Wright is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine, of John Knox Village, Lee's Summit, MO; brother-in-law Ollie Roberts (Regina), Appleton City; nephews, whom he thought the world of, Craig Roberts (Tina), Appleton City and Kevin Roberts (Alison), Lee's Summit, MO; great niece Ashlyn Roberts-Turner (Mitchell), Rockville, MO; great nephew Brett Roberts, Appleton City and great-great niece Brealea Turner.

Wright enjoyed traveling with Maxine throughout their marriage. They were fortunate enough to see most of the world and he always enjoyed seeing how farmers from other countries ran their farms, the livestock they raised and the crops they planted.
