The SERVICE for Mr. Crowder will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on
Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

The MINISTER officiating at the service will be Pastor Norman Black .

VISITATION will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 8, 2015 preceding the service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

The family suggests any MEMORIAL donations be made to one of the following:

ACS Hope Lodge (Kansas City, Missouri)
Any memorial may be left at the funeral home.

Woodvul C. "Woody" Crowder, son of James David and Margaret Veronica (Ala) Crowder, was born June 25, 1931 in Iuka Springs, Missouri, south of Johnson City, Missouri. He departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at the age of 84.
Woody was the youngest of eight children and grew up around Iuka Springs and Appleton City, Missouri. He attended school at Upper Monegaw along with his brothers and two sisters. Woody accepted Christ at an early age and attended church at Johnson City as often as possible.

Times were very hard when Woody was growing up. After moving to town, he and his brother, Clifford, found work where ever they could. When Woody was 17, he started working for United Telephone Company as an installer under the supervision of Bob Hunt. He worked for 42 years with the telephone company, retiring in 1991.
On December 4, 1951, Woody was united in marriage to Patty L. Vantellman. They were blessed with three daughters.
Woody served in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant from May, 1952 to May, 1954. He was stationed at Fort Crowder in Missouri, then to El Paso, Texas, Camp Edward in Born, Massachusetts and Fort Tildin in New York.
After retiring, Woody enjoyed buying and selling various types of antiques, gardening, yard work and just visiting with his friends and neighbors.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, one sister and daughter Shirley Renfrow. Survivors include his wife, Patty of the home; daughters: Wanda L. Barnes (Ron) of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Dee Ann Campbell (Tim) of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren: Jennifer Barnes and Andrew Barnes of Lee's Summit; great-grandson, Atticus McMurry; sister, Alberta Crowder of Centralia, Missouri; one sister-in-law Jeanne Crowder; one son-in-law Charles Renfrow; many other relatives and friends.
