The SERVICE for Wilma will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri.

The MINISTER officiating at the service will be Pastor Tony Reynolds .

VISITATION will be from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. preceding the service.

INTERMENT will be at Harmony Cemetery near the Johnson City, Missouri community.

The family suggest any MEMORIAL gifts be given to Harmony Cemetery.

Wilma Lorene Dines, 83, of Appleton City, Missouri passed away October 30, 2016 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home where she had been residing for a short time as her health had failed.

Wilma was born June 17, 1933 north of Johnson City, Missouri in St. Clair County. She was one of six children born to Flavil Smith and Daisy Irene (Perkins) Dines. Wilma attended Moore School for one year, then Upper Monegaw School through the 8 ^th grade, then attending and graduating from Appleton City High School in 1952. Wilma went to LPN school, training at Ellett Hospital and completing her board certification in Jefferson City two years later. She moved to Kansas City, working for Dr. Blondo for 15 years at Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She also worked as a private duty nurse at St. Luke's Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City during those years.

In the late 60's Wilma was forced to move home to Appleton City due to health problems. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and was a member of First Baptist Church in Appleton City. Her home was always warm, inviting and immaculate as was her yard. Her constant companion was a small white poodle, Tina, which she cared for as a much loved family member. She loved caring for people and thought of others first. She was always there to lend a hand to her neighbors when they needed her. Wilma had a warm caring smile and was always free to help, listen or just be there when she was needed; it was her gift. She was very self sufficient and frugal, never wanting to be "a burden" to anyone.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings: Vernon Dines, Elvin Dines, Bill Dines and Vona Hinkle. Survivors include one sister, Janet Cooper of Bolivar, Missouri; special niece, Gayla Powell and husband Terry of Appleton City, Missouri; many other nieces, nephews and friends.
