The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Rector will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013
at the
First Baptist Church in
Appleton City, Missouri.

The MINISTER will be
Brother Mark Wilkerson.

VISITATION will be held from
1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church preceding the service.

A MILITARY GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be presented by the
Appleton City VFW Post #11242 and the
Missouri Honor Guard.

INTERMENT will be in the
Appleton City Cemetery.

William Lewis Rector, 88, was born February 10, 1925 at Tiffin, Missouri. He was the second of two sons born to Edwin and LaVinia Rector. He departed this life on February 21, 2013 at his home in Appleton City, Missouri.

Louie attended Rockville School and loved playing team sports, especially basketball. He joined the Army in 1943 and served in the Pacific Campaign during WWII, earning a purple heart and other service medals. On April 21, 1946 he married his wife of 66 years, Wanda Lee Heiserman. They were blessed with four children. Wanda and Louie raised their children in Kansas City, Missouri. They moved back to Appleton City, Missouri upon retirement in 1983.

Louie received Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord in 1954 on Easter Sunday at Linden Baptist Church. He remained a faithful church member throughout the rest of his life. Since 1983 he was a member of First Baptist Church of Appleton City, Missouri.

Louie was an avid outdoorsman. In younger years he loved hunting with his brothers-in-law. With Wanda as his constant companion, he loved boating, camping, and fishing with family and friends. He and Wanda travelled throughout the U.S.A., and especially the western states. He read every book Louis L'amour wrote. He excelled at many sports during his lifetime: basketball, softball, league bowling, water skiing, golf and horseshoe pitching. After age 70, he won the Missouri state championship several times, ranking fourth in the world in the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association in 1999.

Preceding Louie in death were his parents, his brother, Leon, and his grandson, Kurt Meek. Survivors include his wife Wanda of the home; his four children: LaWanna and husband, Gerald Moss of St. Louis, Missouri, Jean and husband, Tom Stark of Bolivar, Missouri, Rex and wife, Debbie Rector of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Deborah and husband, Russ Meek of Springfield, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Howard Heiserman of Appleton City, Missouri and R. L. Masoner of Edgerton, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Heiserman of Appleton City, Missouri; numerous other relatives and friends.
