Wanda Marie Gragg, daughter of William Henry and Elpha Leona (Simmons) Snyder, was born April 2, 1934 in St. Clair County, Missouri near Lowry City. She lived there with her family until 1944 when they moved to Appleton City, Missouri.
Wanda and Jackie Lee Gragg, her husband of 59 years, were married in the Baptist parsonage in Osceola, Missouri November 17, 1951, two months after Jackie's discharge from the U.S. Navy. Jackie and Wanda had lived in Appleton City throughout her lifetime until the last two years when her health failed and they moved closer to their three children. She passed away peacefully at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Her loving family who had cared for her these many months was at her side as she departed this life.
As a young married adult Wanda worked as a waitress at the Blue Inn, serving the patrons with her always present smile and easy laughter. She later took a job with the Appleton City Clinic where she worked in the pharmacy. Following her employment at the clinic she became an office worker for West Central and in her later years she worked alongside husband, Jackie, as custodian at Appleton City School. She also volunteered to clean the church where they held membership, Trinity United Methodist. Wanda was always friendly and was never too busy to visit with friends or colleagues. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, especially sharing in all their accomplishments. She liked to be around people and also enjoyed bowling and reading.
Preceding Wanda in death were her parents; four brothers, William Lester, Edmond and Ernest Snyder, and an infant; three sisters, Lorene Davis, Neola Fae Snyder and Georgia Sampson. Survivors include her husband, Jackie, of the home; one son Douglas Gragg and wife Linda of Independence, Missouri; two daughters, Sue Gragg and Penny Wrape both of Lee's Summit, Missouri; five grandchildren, Matt and Jon Dixon of Independence, Missouri, Lisa Mattson and husband Jeff of Blue Springs, Missouri and Sabrina and Christian Wrape of Lee's Summit; three great-grandchildren, Abby, Libby and Tucker Mattson; siblings, Mildred Dietz, Leona McMillin, Bertha Price, LeRoy Snyder, Shirley Pierce and Sheila Snyder; numerous nieces and nephews.
