The SERVICE for Dan will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

The MINISTER will be Pastor Nick VanDam.

VISITATION will be preceding the funeral  from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

MILITARY GRAVESIDE will be presented by El Dorado Springs VFW Post #257 and the Missouri Honor Guard - Navy.

INTERMENT will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery Taberville, Missouri.

The family requests that MEMORIAL donations be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Walter Danney "Dan" Oberly was born February 18, 1931 at the family home in Rockville, Missouri, the son of Walter J. and Oma (Shouse) Oberly. Dan departed this life February 22, 2018 a few days after his 87th birthday.
Dan attended Osage Country School not far from his home through the 8th grade at which time he stayed home to help on the farm. He served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Following his time of service he was united in marriage to Peggy Joann Bowen February 20, 1959 at Filley West Church in Filley, Missouri. Dan and Peggy made their home on their farm near Taberville. He raised cattle and grew beans, wheat and corn through the years. Dan enjoyed buying and selling guns for several years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and in his later years enjoyed following the accomplishments of his great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dan in death were his wife of 58 years, Peggy; his daughter Rhonda Gay Oberly; and his brother John Oberly. Survivors include his sister, Elizabeth Joann "Jody" Davis of Belton, Missouri and a sister-in-law Clara Belle Oberly of Appleton City, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
