Walter Albert Boehler, 83, was born March 9, 1925 in Urich, Missouri to Fred and Mary Elizabeth (Gieselman) Boehler. He departed this life December 19, 2008 at his home in rural Montrose, Missouri.
Walter served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Laverne Wagner February 1, 1954 and to this union nine children were born. He was a farmer all his life and enjoyed collecting and refurbishing antique Allis Chalmers tractors after his retirement. Mr. Boehler was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose and also belonged to the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He served on various boards and committees during his lifetime.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Annette, two sisters Christina Stoddard and Loretta Cook, his three brothers Henry and Leonard Boehler and Francis who died in infancy.
Survivors include his wife Laverne of the home; eight children, Susan and husband Robert Salmon of Appleton City, Missouri, Veronica and husband Gary Fennewald of Appleton City, Missouri, Gary Boehler and wife Dorene of Montrose, Missouri, Sandra and husband Rick Headley of Nevada, Missouri, Diane Boehler of Nevada, Missouri, Janice Bratzler of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jerry Boehler of Montrose, Missouri, Denise and husband Duane Jurgensmeyer of Montrose, Missouri; 19 grandchildren: Josh Salmon, Abigail Calton, Zeb Salmon, Sarah Butler, Gerald Fennewald, Crystal VanSandt, Dustin Boehler, Amanda Bigler, Jacob Boehler, Aneisa Boehler, Angela Coonce, Noah Nitchals, Taylor Nitchals, Michelle Bratzler, Erin Bratzler, Nathan Bratzler, Jessica Bristow, Stephanie Bristow and Heather Bristow; and 11 great-grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Marcella and husband Clarence Hillerman, Clara and husband Matt Koch, Rosanna Greufe, John Boehler and wife Emillia and Harold Boehler and wife Mildred.
