Wallace Dirl Cross, 64, son of Granville Jackson and Ada Mae (Sutton) Cross, passed away August 14, 2010 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Wally was born in Independence, Missouri January 16, 1948 and spent almost all of his life in Appleton City, Missouri. Wally served his country in the U.S. Army between 1965 and 1971. He was stationed in Vietnam where he was an aircraft mechanic. On September 15, 1983 Wally was united in marriage to Debra Rae Worthan in Clinton, Missouri. They were blessed with two children. He worked as a mechanic throughout his life and was employed most recently at Butler Motors in Butler, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton City.
When he was younger, Wally liked to drive under the #19 in demolition derbies with his nephew Jeff. He always had enjoyed working on cars and was an avid gun collector. He also enjoyed early morning trips to the Blue Inn for coffee with the "boys" to learn all the news.
Preceding Wally in death were his parents, one brother Kenneth Cross and one sister-in-law Janice Worthan. Survivors include his wife Debra Cross of the home; two sons, Alex Cross of the home and Christopher Cross and wife Melissa and their son of Clinton, Missouri; one daughter Aimee Worthley and husband Jason and their children Colby, Shelby Camren and Kennedy of Versailles, Missouri; two brothers, Gerald Cross and wife Judy of Appleton City and Dennis Cross and wife Gayle of Camden Point, Missouri; four sisters-in-law Lena Cross of Appleton City, Kathleen Burley and husband Chuck of West Virginia, Tammi Leutkemeyer and husband Scott of Meta, Missouri and Bobbi Lear of Bolivar, Missouri; his father and mother-in-law Raymond and Dorothy Worthan of Flemington, Missouri; the families of nephews and nieces: Jeff Cross, Kim Dains, Jackie Perry, Mike Cross, Clinton Cross, Doug Cross, Austin Lear, John Crawford, Andrew Crawford, Tiffany Crawford, Christian Crawford, Sophia Leutkemeyer; and numerous cousins.
