Vivian Rose Majors, daughter of Peyton Reeves and Stella Blake (Raybourn) Davis, passed away quietly August 27, 2010 in Appleton City, Missouri.

Vivian was born in Taberville, Missouri October 22, 1919. As a small child Vivian and her seven siblings moved to a small farm outside of Appleton City. She attended school in Appleton City and received her diploma in 1938.

Vivian married August Jerrell "Jerry" Thompson on August 22, 1942 in Harrisonville, Missouri. Not long after they were married Jerry was drafted by the army and sent overseas. Vivian gave birth to their only child Jerrell Thompson October 22, 1944. Sadly, Jerry was killed while fighting in Germany on April 27, 1945. Vivian mourned his death for many years.

Vivian married Ray Majors on Christmas day in 1952. She enjoyed helping Ray with their farm and saddlery business, she also enjoyed the many years she worked at City Hall in Appleton City. Vivian and Ray also enjoyed spending time with their family and taking many trips exploring the United States. Ray passed away on September 14, 1987after 35 wonderful years together.

Vivian was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an amazing cook and seamstress, she enjoyed making quilts and knitting and crocheting afghans for her family. She also crocheted many doilies. Vivian was a loving, caring and dignified woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Preceding Vivian in death were her parents; her husbands Jerry and Ray; her two brothers Thomas Jefferson Davis and Reeves Davis; and three sisters, Eunice Davis, Alice Beard and Helen Doerflinger. Survivors include her son Jerrell Edward Thompson and wife Maureen of Osceola, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Jane Beard of Kansas City, Missouri and Betty June Steiner and husband Roy of Appleton City, Missouri; Grandsons - Andrew Ray Thompson and wife Wendi of Tenafly, New Jersey and Sean Edward Thompson and wife Coral of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter Celia Anne Thompson of Charlotte, North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Calista Marie Thompson and William August Kurt Thompson of Los Angeles, California; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
