Viola Rebekkah Pauline Jagels, daughter of Reverend George and Minna (Schlicher) Jagels, was born July 27, 1913 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. She departed this life July 23, 2005 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at 91 years of age.
Viola was baptized August 17, 1913 in Oklahoma and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, Missouri on April 26, 1926 by her father Reverend George Jagels.
She attended high school in Rockville, Missouri and Central Business College in Kansas City. While visiting friends in southern California Viola met her husband Harry Eugene Guthormsen. They were married September 7, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Guthormsen held various positions in Kansas City and southern California retiring from her position as clerk with Los Angeles County on July 31, 1978. Viola and Harry had no children but they spent time with and enjoyed their many nieces and nephews.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband and most of his family. Survivors include two sisters, Esther Vogt and Elnora Roberts both of Appleton City, Missouri, a sister-in-law Leola Jagels also of Appleton City, three brothers, Marvin Jagels and wife Velda of Rockville, Missouri, Erwin Jagels and wife Delores of Overland Park, Kansas and Garnold Jagels and wife Charlotte of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
