The FUNERAL MASS for Vince will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, Missouri.

The Rosary will be said preceding mass Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.; Visitation will follow the Rosary from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

OFFICIATING will be Father Jason Koch.

A MILITARY GRAVESIDE will be presented by Montrose VFW Post 8820 and the Missouri Honor Guard - Army.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.

The family suggests any MEMORIAL donations be made to the Montrose VFW Post 8820 and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.

Vincent Anthony Engeman was born on December 29, 1925, the son of Joseph and Monica (Schmedding) Engeman.  He passed away peacefully at the Appleton City Manor in Appleton City, Missouri on January 28, 2022.  He was the fourth of seven children.

Vince grew up in the Appleton City area, where he graduated from Appleton City High School in 1943.  Shortly after graduation, He was drafted into the United States Army in 1944, where he served his country proudly during World War II.  He first went to Germany and later Hawaii until the surrender of Japan, returning home in 1946.  Vince worked on the family farm all his life, had a long career as a rural mail carrier for the Postal Service, and also worked as a carpenter in Kansas City for some years.  He owned and operated J.V. Sales in Appleton City, where he sold auto parts and many other commodities.

Vince married Bette Jo Belew on September 27, 1950, his wife of 71 years, and to this union two children were born: Joyce and John.  His family was the most important thing in his life, especially his grandchildren.  Vince was a skilled carpenter that built his family's home.  He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends every morning at Fenewald's Plumbing, Frost Tire, and Walt's Barber Shop. Apart from this, he was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he attended all his life.  Vince enjoyed life and a good laugh. He was easy going and was a skilled and enthusiastic storyteller.  He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Monica (Schmedding) Engeman; his brothers: Bernard, Leo, Paul, George, and Ralph Engeman; one sister, Rita Wagner.

He is survived by his wife, Bette Jo Engeman; his children: Joyce Howe (Larry) and John Engeman (Kelley Mead); his grandchildren: Martin Ryberg, Matt Ryberg, Bryce Engeman (Raquel) and Brooke Bandera (Dominic); five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family and good friends, who will miss him dearly.
