Velma Marie Walden, 81, daughter of Walphia and Sylvia (Orfield) Winkler passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri.

Velma spent most of her childhood in Hartwell, Missouri before moving to Clinton for a few years. In 1951 Velma moved to Appleton City, Missouri where she lived the remainder of her life. She spent 18 years working at the Rival Manufacturing plant in Clinton, Missouri.

Velma loved her family and liked spending time with her sons and grandchildren. Velma liked to crochet and collect dolls in her spare time. She was also a very independent and hard working woman who was not afraid of manual labor to make an extra dollar. Following a stroke 17 years ago Velma's daughter–in-law Virginia cared for her when she needed extra help.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents; an ex-husband Charles Walden; son Kenny Walden; grandson Larry Walden and brother Horold Winkler. She is survived by her son Charlie Walden and wife Virginia of Appleton City, Missouri, grandson Frank Walden and wife Julie of Montrose, Missouri, great-granddaughters Morgan and Amber Walden of Montrose, Missouri; a daughter Sylvia Sellers of California, grandchildren Craig, Kimberly and Shannon; a daughter-in-law Debbie Walden of Butler, Missouri and granddaughter Ashley Walden of Butler, Missouri; four sisters Doris Graef of Harrisonville, Missouri, Anna Phillips and husband Albert of Quincy, Missouri, Wanda Baker of Garland, Texas, and Barbara Siders of Belton, Missouri; one brother Dennis Winkler and wife Patty of Clinton, Missouri.
