Velda Lorine Fischer Jagels was born on January 28, 1927, in Bates County, Missouri, to Frances (Leimer) and Arthur Fischer and departed this life on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in Appleton City, Missouri at the age of 86. She was baptized on February 20, 1927, confirmed on April 6, 1941, and united in marriage to Marvin Paul Jagels on June 6, 1948, all taking place at Zion Lutheran Church, Prairie City, Missouri. Pastor George Jagels, father of Marvin, officiated at all three celebrations. Velda attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School through 8th grade and graduated from Rockville High School on May 10, 1945. She received her teaching certificate from Warrensburg Teaching College and taught school for several years at Rich Valley School before her marriage.

Most of Velda and Marvin's entire 64 years of marriage were spent on the family farm west of Rockville, Missouri where they worked side by side in their dairy/farming operation. They were blessed with the birth of Donita Kay in 1949 and Ricky Jay in 1950. Velda was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and School, Ladies Aid and served as secretary for Aid Association for Lutherans for numerous years. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, visiting with family, and friends. She was especially proud of her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her strong faith in the Lord sustained her throughout her life. Velda and Marvin also enjoyed taking numerous vacations along with their family members each year.

Velda is survived by her husband Marvin; sister Delores and Erwin Jagels, Overland Park, Kansas; brother Delbert Fischer, Rockville, Missouri; son Ricky and Linda Jagels, Rich Hill, Missouri; daughter Donita and Larry Wilson, Branson, Missouri; grandchildren: Tracey Wilson, Olathe, Kansas, Brandon and Julie Wilson, Branson, Missouri, Kara and Steve Shank, Argyle, Texas, Amanda and Shawn Stuckey, Kansas City, Missouri, Bethany and James Rose, Leawood, Kansas and Suzanne and Dallas Jennings, Rich Hill, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Payton, Langley, Levi Shank; Haydon and Will Wilson; Henry Rick Rose, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Velda in death were her parents, great-granddaughter Abigail Lynn Shank, and sister-in-law Shirley E. Fischer.
