Obituary

Thomas David Reece, son of Robert Maurice and Virginia W. (Thompson) Reece, was born November 22, 1943 in Iowa.  He departed this life at his home in Appleton City, Missouri June 12, 2024 at the age of 80.

Thom, as his family and friends knew him, was a very creative man both figuratively and literally.  He served in Vietnam with the Air Force.  He was very proud of the time he served his country.   Upon returning to the States, he attended Central Missouri State College and later at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.  Thom had a way of making you think for yourself and search for answers without just giving them to you.

Uncle Thom was an entrepreneur from the beginning.  He was the CEO of Online Marketing Group and Hammerkop Publishing, he wrote numerous business articles published in the United States and in a few foreign publications as well.  He was a guest lecturer at the University of Hawaii/Hilo and Kapiolani Community College during the early 2000's.   He traveled and explored the world taking photographs everywhere he went. His paintings were inspired by those images from his photos and his memories.   His paintings are as moving as his words.  His laughter was contagious.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Thom was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Kenny Reece, Mary Lou Gentry, Nancy Harriman and Pat Roland.  Survivors include his son, Jeff Reece; three nieces: Kathy McCormick (Randy), Jeanne Spencer and Pam Harriman; five nephews: Robb Gentry (Carla), Bud Carruthers, Paul Carruthers, Jackie Carruthers and Mike Harriman.

Thom's wishes were to be cremated and memorial service plans are incomplete at this time.
