Thelma Wanetta Nichols, daughter of James Goldman and Gladys Delsie Taylor, was born February 28, 1929 in Milford, Missouri. She passed away at Overland Park Regional Medical Center February 10, 2012.

Wanetta spent most of her life in the Appleton City area. She and Homer Lee Nichols were united in marriage June 3, 1946 in Ft. Scott, Kansas and were blessed with nine children. They raised their family on their farm in the Schell City, Taberville area. Wanetta was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and a life-time member of Appleton City VFW Post 11242 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and liked flowers. Wanetta loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Wanetta in death were her parents; her husband, Homer who passed away February 10, 2001; two sons, Bobby Nichols and Tommy Nichols; one brother David Taylor; one sister Betty Frances; two grandchildren, Scottie Nichols, Candace Barbour; one great-grandson Casey Balthrope. Survivors include her children: Billy Nichols and wife Charleen of Drexel, Missouri, Wanda Nichols of Lowry City, Missouri; Ronnie Nichols of Peculiar, Missouri; Debbie Tiehes of Montrose, Missouri; Sharon Barbour of Appleton City Missouri; Melody and husband Ed VanBlaricon of Drexel, Missouri; and Lisa and husband Steve Cameron of Osceola, Missouri; a daughter-in-law Diana Nichols of Taberville, Missouri; two brothers, Kenny Taylor and wife Lou Ann of Appleton City, Missouri and Richard Taylor and wife Tina of Walker, Missouri; three sisters, Elsie Brenton of Harrisonville, Missouri, Geneva Smith of Appleton City and Goldie and husband Melvin Taylor of Rockville; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
