First Baptist Church in
Appleton City, Missouri on
Saturday, February 23, 2013
at 11:00 a.m.

The MINISTER will be
Brother Mark Wilkerson.

VISITATION will be held
at the church an hour preceeding the service on
Saturday, February 23, 2013 between
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

INTERMENT will be in the
Appleton City Cemetery.

Thelma Jane Nichols, daughter of Clarence and Selma Wood Evans, was born June 24, 1934 in Pittsburg, Kansas. She passed away in Kansas City, Missouri, February 19, 2013 at 78 years of age.

Thelma lived in Clinton growing up and graduated from Clinton High School. On August 20, 1950 she married Glenn D. Nichols in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and they moved to Independence, Missouri. During the 36 years she lived in Independence, she worked at Sears in Kansas City, Missouri for 27 years; taught preschool at First Baptist Church, Independence, for 23 years; was president of PTA at Randall Elementary School, Independence; and was Den Mother for Pack 236 for several years. She moved to Appleton City in 1991 and taught preschool at First Baptist Church in Appleton City. She enjoyed traveling to almost every state, especially Colorado. She was a member of Green Valley Club.

Thelma was a member of First Baptist Church in Appleton City, Missouri, where she was a member of the choir and was in charge of preparing for church dinners.

Thelma loved volunteering for Evelyn Brown Laney Hospice and Appleton City School whenever she could. She was a member of the Appleton City Library Board. She was a good story teller. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was a fabulous mother, following all her children's activities as well as her grandchildren's activities.

Thelma was preceded in death by: father, Clarence Evans; mother, Selma Evans Smith; brother, William Evans; sister-in-law, Doris Ann Nichols; brother-in-law, Harold Carbah; step-brother, Bill Smith, and step-father, Raymond Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Appleton City; one son, Dennis Nichols (Carol); one daughter, Sherian Fishman (Barry); two grandsons, Christopher Jackson and Mark Nichols; two granddaughters, Kim Wraight (Craig) and Emily Nichols; four great-grandchildren, Amidy Jackson, Trinity Jackson, Avery Wraight and Abram Wraight; one sister, Claira Carbah; step-brother, Charles Smith; sisters-in-law: Wanda (Evans) Kinder (Larry), Marie Brown (L.V.), Delores Bracher, Ellen Higgins (Kent), Beulah Connor, Geraldine Brownsberger (Bill), Connie Mott, and brothers-in-law: Wilbur Nichols (Barbara) and Eugene Nichols (Nancy).
