Thelma Lois (Garrison) Hough was born November 25, 1927 in St. Clair County, Missouri to John Adam "Addie" and Cynthia Ruth (Fleming) Garrison. She died October 4, 2011 in Appleton City at the age of 83. She grew up in Appleton City and was married to Lewis Ray "Sammy" Hough August 10, 1945, and to this union six children were born.

Thelma grew up helping her father in the furniture business, welding shop and helping raise chickens and working outdoors. This love of being outdoors continued and she helped her husband with farming and driving trucks. She always had a large garden and canned and froze much of what the family had to eat. She sewed most of the family's clothing and later enjoyed machine quilting. After Sammy died she became an ordained minister and preached at several Assembly of God churches in the area, including Appleton City, Rich Hill, Hume and Weaubleau.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her mother-in-law Hazel Hough; two sisters, Ople Harleman and Sarah Ellen Garrison; an infant brother and two grandsons, David Scott Hough and Eric Killion. She is survived by her six children, Jim Hough of Appleton City, Dave Hough and wife Cindy of El Dorado Springs, Lois and husband Wayne Schenker of Rockville, Bob Hough and wife Beth of Rockville, Bill Hough and wife Anita of Appleton City, Lucile Hough and companion Don Harleman of Rockville, 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one sister Neoma Link; other relatives and friends.
