Sharon Kay (Wix) Brown, 66 years old, of Holden, Missouri passed away May 14, 2011.
Sharon was born May 11, 1945 in Appleton City, Missouri the daughter of Robert and Edna (Gregg) Wix.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Doris Kassner. Survivors include her sisters, Donna Kuhn, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Shirley Bell, Gladstone, Missouri and Sue Heiman, Holden, Missouri and 13 nieces and nephews.
Sharon was a graduate of Appleton City High School and then lived in the Appleton City area until she relocated to Rock Falls, Illinois more than 25 years ago. She married Chris Brown in October of 1986 and they made their home in Rock Falls. Sharon was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene. She spent many years volunteering with Equal Ride, was Vice President of the Ostomy Club and Vice President at NICIL (Northwestern Illinois Center for Independent Living). Sharon was a strong advocate for social change, to allow greater integration of persons with disabilities to live independently within their respective communities.
