Scott Steven Tiehes, 70, of Montrose, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his home in Montrose Missouri. Scott was born on March 11, 1952 to Joseph Clifford Tiehes and Pansy Anne Tiehes (Lappe) in Perry County, Missouri. He was one of five children.
As an adult, Scott began a successful masonry career, initially working for the Bricklayer's Union and eventually going on to found SST Masonry, which he owned and operated successfully for over 30 years. SST Masonry became one of the most prestigious residential masonry companies in Missouri, with Scott's work being featured in multiple magazines and periodicals. Scott was an innovative, creative, hardworking, and talented bricklayer and mason.
Scott had a love for the outdoors. He spent many hours enjoying the woods surrounding his home in Montrose. He had a special passion for the unique things of life. What others might consider a waste, Scott saw as an enjoyment. He loved to laugh and brought many smiles to those who knew him. He had a love for animals, especially his pet dogs. He would even play a radio in the barn to keep his chickens from getting lonely. Scott was not just kind to his animals; though stubborn and onery at times, he was kind and generous with a heart for helping others when he could.
Almost 10 years ago, Scott married the love of his life, Debbie L. Tiehes (Oehring). Scott and Debbie had known each other for over 50 years and were together as a couple for many years before marrying.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents Clifford Tiehes, Pansy Willis, and his step father John Willis. He is survived by his wife (Debbie), four siblings, two sons, Sean (Megan) Tiehes and Sheldon (Lindsay) Tiehes. A step daughter Amanda (Jared) Westhusing and a step son Joseph (Kendra) Oehring. 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life in his memory. Donations may be made to Heartland Hospice (ProMedica) or to the Debbie Tiehes GoFundMe page.
