Russell Bauer, 67, son of Vincent H. and Virginia (Goth) Bauer, passed away July 4, 2017. He was born November 13, 1949 in Appleton City and lived in the Montrose area all his life. Russell attended St. Mary's Elementary School, and graduated from Montrose High School. After graduation Russell followed in his father's footsteps and became a welder.
Russell loved collecting and rebuilding gas engines for shows and events around the state and was a member of the Western Missouri Antique Tractor and Machinery Association in Adrian, Missouri. He loved watching tractor pulls and was also a car enthusiast. He attended many car shows and enjoyed watching drag racing and car racing on TV. He loved his cats and some even rode around with him in his truck. Russell was an avid reader, he especially liked The Smithsonian and National Geographic magazines. Russell enjoyed spending time with his great-nieces and great-nephews; he loved to tease them.
Russell was preceded in death by his father, Vincent and one sister, Lisa (Bauer) Gatewood. Russell is survived by his mother, Virginia Bauer of Montrose, Missouri; his siblings: Denice Kaumans (Roger) of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Kenneth Bauer (Brenda) of Montrose, Missouri and Shelia Gibson (Ray) of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; nieces and nephews: Jonathan Kaumans, Kathleen Maurer (Brian), Janna Wareham (Jason), Meghan Bauer, Jeremy Van Buskirk (Vanessa), Corey Van Buskirk (Shelby), and Jared Van Buskirk; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
