Ruby Lee Harkrader Schenker, 82, daughter of George E. and Sophia J. M. (Fischer) Harkrader, born June 6, 1929 in Pleasant Gap, Missouri, departed this life at Heartland of Willow Lane Nursing Home in Butler, Missouri surrounded by her family on April 21, 2012. On June 5, 1949 she was united in marriage to Norvin G. Schenker at the home of Rev. and Mrs. George Jagels.

Ruby was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City. She was a member of Zion's Ladies Aid/LWML, holding many offices in the organization as long as her health permitted. She will be remembered for polyester patchwork block quilt making. She served Zion as an organist for many years. She was a member of Zion's Choir and Hand bell Choir, a Sunday School Teacher, a member of Zion's 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee, Couples Club, Ladies Social and delighted in participating in the plays and box suppers put on by the Ladies Aid.

She and her family were very active members of the Busy Beavers 4-H Club, Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Missouri Guernsey Breeders and Guernsey Breeders of America Associations. In 1971 the family was selected to represent Bates County at the Missouri State Fair as Bates County's Farm Family.

Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening especially her gladiolas and tulips, sewing and cooking. Before the internet, grandma was the go-to person for her grandchildren for cooking advice. She delighted in the accomplishments and travels of her children and grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents George and Sophia, and brothers, Floyd, Lloyd and Edward.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norvin Schenker of Prairie City, Missouri; three daughters and one son, Patricia Tippie (Dwayne) of rural Rockville, Juanita Cragin (Mike) of Nevada, Glenda Smith (Steven) of St. Louis, Lyle Schenker (Peggy) of Prairie City; two sisters-in-law - Ruby Elliott of Olathe, Kansas and Lorna Mae Harkrader of Papinville, Missouri; 11 Grandchildren – Barbara Tippie Sechler (Steven), Karen Tippie, John Tippie (Mary), John, William and George Cragin, Renae Smith Reynolds (Michael), Nolan Smith, Scott Schenker (Brittany), Mallory Schenker Rapp (Matthew) and Alex Schenker; 9 Great-Grandchildren – Garrett Sechler, Brayden Schenker, Hugh and Seth Reynolds, Andrew and Isaac Sandrock, Harleigh, Logan and Delainey Rapp; 12 nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives and friends.
