OFFICIANT for the Mass will be Monsignor Bradley Offutt.
VISITATION/ROSARY will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, Missouri on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Visitation: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Rosary: 7:00 p.m.
INTERMENT will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Montrose, Missouri.
The family suggests MEMORIAL gifts may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery or St. Mary's Education Fund.
Rose Gertrude (Mayer) Swaters, 94, daughter of Peter Jerome and Josephine (Schrier) Mayer was born September 18, 1920 in Montrose, Missouri. She passed away at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri on Monday, January 5, 2015.
Rose was born at home on the family farm 1½ miles north of Montrose. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated 8th grade in 1935. She helped on the farm until 1945 when she moved to Tacoma, Washington where she worked in a candy factory.
While Rose was in Tacoma, she married Clarence William "Bill" Swaters, while he was serving in the Army. They were married at the main base chapel at Ft. Lewis Army Post in Tacoma, Washington on October 14, 1946.
After Bill was honorably discharged, they moved back to Montrose, living with Bill's parents for five years. They moved to the Kelland farm until 1960 when they bought the Swaters home place. After Bill died, Rose built a new home in Montrose where she lived the rest of her life.
Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri as well as the Altar Sodality. Rose enjoyed quilting. She created many beautiful quilts to give to her children and grandchildren. Most of all, Rose loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Elizabeth J. Swaters; siblings: Anna, Mary, Margaret, Leona, William "Bill", Josephine, Peter and Paul.
Survivors include sons, Henry J. Swaters and wife, Jane and Fred W. Swaters and wife, Aletta, both of Montrose, Missouri; grandchildren: Bill Swaters and wife, Renee, Brighton, Missouri; Elizabeth Bailey and husband, Rick, Montrose, Missouri, Joey Swaters and wife, Jessica, Overland Park, Kansas, Andy Swaters and fiancée, Kellan Palmer, Montrose, Missouri and Matt Swaters, Overland Park, Kansas; great-grandchildren: Ashley and Cody Swaters, Drew, Nate and Lauren Bailey, and Aubrey Jane Swaters; sister-in-law, Marilyn Mayer, Frankfort, South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.
