Robert Ray "Bobby" Crayton, son of John R. and Carrie Z. (Head) Crayton, was born June 6, 1939 in St. Clair County, Missouri east of Appleton City. He departed this life October 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City at 72 years of age.

Bobby's family moved to Independence, Missouri when he was eight years old. He attended school in Independence and graduated from Truman High School. After graduation Bobby began working for Herald House Publishing and continued there for several years before taking a maintenance job at Truman High School. He retired from Truman in 2007 and moved back to Appleton City.

Bobby loved fishing and didn't care which species of fish was on his hook. He enjoyed his Ranger ATV that he'd enclosed and fixed up. Bobby was also very fond of a stray cat "Friendly" that had adopted him and moved in. He liked country-western music and enjoyed going to listen to the music with his sister, Roberta.

Preceding Bobby in death were his parents; one sister Arleene Gardner; and four brothers, Jewel Crayton, Leroy Crayton, Wendell Crayton and Dr. Bill Crayton. Survivors include his siblings: Roberta Dines of Appleton City, Donny Crayton and wife Charlene of Osceola, Missouri and Joan Moore of Fairgrove, Missouri; sister-in-law Shirley Crayton of Appleton City; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
