Hill and Son Funeral Home in
Appleton City, Missouri on
Saturday, March 9, 2013 at
1:00 p.m.

The MINISTER will be
Charlie Owsley.

INURNMENT will be at
Bernard Chapel Cemetery in
Quincy, Missouri.

Rex Allen Dietz was born in Lowry City, Missouri on September 10, 1943. He passed away at his home in Appleton City, Missouri on March 3, 2013 at the age of 69 years.

He graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Kansas in 1961. Rex enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and was a really good pitcher and hitter. He was a lifetime fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals. He would watch the games anytime he could. When he wasn't watching the Cardinals play he would enjoy watching and reading old westerns. He also enjoyed the company of his cats and he would even feed a few strays that would come to his door every night.

Rex was an avid fisherman his entire life. He loved going out in his boat and spending time catching fish. Even after it became difficult for him to get out with his boat he still enjoyed fishing from the banks. He had plans to go prospecting for gold and treasure but his health prevented him from living that dream.

Rex built railroad tracks for most of his life. He excelled at it and knew his craft well. Rex built tracks for Smith-Miller and even had his own track building company for a while. Rex retired from Trac-Works in 2006 after becoming disabled due to complications of diabetes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mildred Dietz, and his sister Ruby Owsley. He is survived by his brother Ward Dietz and his wife Aileen of White Bluff, Tennessee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
