Raymond Chester Vogel of Montrose, Missouri, was born June 9, 1927 at Germantown, Missouri to Frank and Louise (Cook) Vogel. He departed this life on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri. Raymond grew up on the family farm and attended St. Ludger's School in Germantown.

Raymond was inducted into the Army on September 28, 1950 and served in Korea for two years. He was honorably discharged June 27, 1952. Following the service Raymond worked for many years in the Kansas City area doing highway and bridge construction. After retiring to the Montrose area he continued to work doing farming for area farmers. Raymond always enjoyed reading and visiting with family. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Montrose, Missouri, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member and a past commander of the VFW Post #8820 at Montrose.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lousie Vogel; five brothers, Erwin, Eugene, Cecil, Marcellus and Paul Vogel; and two sisters, Rita Marie Strope and Mary Ellen Jurgensmeyer.

He is survived by one brother Robert Vogel and wife Charlotte of Harrisonville; and one sister Betty Kniffin and husband Robert of Lenexa, Kansas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Vogel, Kansas City, Kansas, Jane Vogel, Kansas City, Missouri and Beatrice Vogel of Montrose; 34 nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other friends and relatives. Raymond will be sadly missed by all those that knew him.
