Rachel Mersylla Rotert, daughter of Julius and Anna (Matheny) Hamric, was born June 1, 1912 in Braxton County, West Virginia. She departed this life November 29, 2007 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Mersylla lived in the Montrose, Missouri area all of her life. She was united in marriage to Sylvester John Rotert, Sr. in 1933 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Rotert was a loving wife, mother and a dedicated teacher. She taught at Cleveland School, Farmer's Institute and Browning School until her retirement in 1950. Mersylla enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri.
Preceding Mersylla in death were her husband, her parents, a son L.L. "Bud" Rotert, a daughter Gwendolyn Holloway, two sisters, Anna Lee Kalwei and Barbara Gay Hamric. Survivors include her four children: S.J. Rotert of Clinton, Missouri, Marilyn Ziegenbein of Clinton, Missouri, Shirley Rotert of Kansas City, Kansas and Carol Rotert of Cape Coral, Florida; two sisters, Irene Farmer of Clinton, Missouri and Marie Stoneman of Eldon, Missouri; nine grandchildren with one deceased; 14 great-grandchildren with one deceased and two great-great-grandchildren with one deceased.
