The SERVICE for Phyllis will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri.

The MINISTER officiating at the service will be Brother Jack Stout.

VISITATION will preceded the service from 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Phyllis requested any MEMORIAL donations be make to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Phyllis Ellain Stout, 71 was born in Nevada, Missouri on October 23, 1948.  She was the daughter of Vernon Leroy and Leoma Ladean (Hart) Kiger.  Phyllis departed this life October 18, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with cancer, at her home in Appleton City, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was raised in the Rich Hill, Missouri area, later moving to California and then back to the Kansas City, Missouri area.  She was united in marriage to Louis Delano Stout October 5, 1963 in Mountain Grove, Missouri and they were blessed with three children.

Phyllis was employed as a CNA for Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City from 1996 to 1999.  In 1999 she began work as a unit secretary and a CNA at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.  She later achieved her certification as a med. Tech, an accomplishment she was proud of.  Throughout her life she was always busy and a very hard worker.  She had a special way of discovering the needs of those around her, and tactfully helped those that needed it.

Phyllis was an accomplished seamstress and also loved quilting.  She enjoyed playing her guitar and was proud to say that she had learned to drive an eighteen-wheeler too!  Apart from this, she was a woman with a strong faith that guided her life.

Preceding Phyllis in death were her husband and two brothers, Danny Kiger and Jimmy Hill; and one sister, Ladeana Ghan.

Survivors include her three children: Louis Dixon "Dick" Stout and wife Ronda of Appleton City, Missouri, Vernon Ray Stout of Appleton City, Jeannie Lynn Wanstreet and husband Troy of Sheldon, Missouri; grandchildren: Abby Marie (Stout) Sage and husband Travis, Sarah Jordan (Stout) Bourland and husband Colby, Baily Dixon Stout and companion Nathan O'Farrell, Michael Burns (Wanstreet); a sister, Kathy Dawes of Stockton, Missouri; and one brother Vernon "Butch" Kiger of Noel, Missouri; and 6 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kenzie, and Harlee Bourland, Shilo Burns Wanstreet, and Everlee, and Arlo Sage; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
