Olga Fischer Rapp was born on February 21, 1912 to Albert and Emma (Schmidt) Fischer on the farm her grandparents purchased when they migrated from Germany to Pleasant Gap, Missouri. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, Missouri. She had an older sister, Bertha Kienberger, and two brothers, Herman Fischer and Ernst Fischer. Olga spoke fluent German at home while growing up. Attending Bever Grade School was no easy task for her since she could barely speak English. As Olga was an excellent student, it didn't take long for her to catch on to the new language and also to help her parents learn the language as well. Later, she attended Zion Lutheran School in Prairie City and graduated.

On November 27, 1938, Olga Fischer married Richard Rapp. They had two sons, Clyde and Clifford, and a daughter, Marlene. She and Richard raised their family on their farm in the Prairie City area. As a young bride, Olga worked side-by-side with her husband farming their land using horses and mules. As a homemaker, Olga made all the clothes for herself and her children. She was well known as a wonderful cook, bountiful gardener, superb seamstress and crocheter, avid reader, and very competitive card player. She was very active in her church, taught Sunday school, and was a founding member of the Ladies Aid where she helped create many lovely quilts.

Olga was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, who died in 1975. She remained on the family farm until 1988 when she moved to Appleton City and lived in the senior apartments and later the assisted living facility. She had been an Appleton City Manor resident for the past three years. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Byard.

She leaves behind her son, Clyde Rapp (JoAnn) of Leawood, Kansas, her son, Clifford Rapp (Sharon) of Rockville, Missouri, and her daughter Marlene Byard of Marco Island, Florida. She leaves five grandchildren, Tim Rapp (Lori), Teresa Taber (Mike), Tanya (Todd) Kernohan, Bryan Rapp (Christine) and Alan Byard and eight great–grandchildren, Matt Taber, Rebecca Taber, Will Rapp, Lauren Kernohan, Kellen Kernohan, Hunter Rapp, Taylor Rapp and Connor Rapp; two step great grandchildren Brandon Norton and Brett Norton. She is also survived by her sisters –in-law, Ruth Rapp and Ruth Fischer.

Olga celebrated her 100th birthday in February. Her independent nature, feisty disposition, incredible work ethic, and her faith in God were the secrets to her longevity. Her deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, strengthened and sustained her throughout her century of life.
