Myrtle Ellen "Mert" Fick, age 95, was born December 18, 1928, to Addis Albro and Blanchie Mae (Heath) Allison in Rockville, Missouri.  Myrtle departed this life on September 10, 2024 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home.

Mert attended Appleton City High School until the tenth grade.  She met Eugene Fick at a dance west of Montrose, Missouri. Their love grew and on November 16, 1950 they were married in Butler, Missouri, beginning their 54 year journey together.

In their earlier years Mert and Gene planted and nurtured vegetable gardens and many flowers.  She enjoyed watching ever changing sunsets and loved fall with it's yellows, oranges and reds.  Mert liked cooking and planning dinners so all her family could all get together.  Her love for family ran very deep and including all of them was very important to her.

After Eugene's passing in 2004, Mert moved to El Dorado Springs, Missouri remaining there for 17 years before returning to Appleton City.

Mert cherished her grandkids, Jason, Alisha, Derek and Breana.  She always made sure she had ice cream and snacks available for them.  She picked them up from school when needed, and would have them spend the weekends with her, catering to each one and loving every minute.  She saw to it that each one attended church with her.  She loved the Lord and wanted them to have the opportunity to share that same love.

Jaden, her eldest great-grandchild, was born ten years before any others, so she had plenty of time to spoil him unmercifully.

Her love for ALL her grandkids and great-grandkids was unconditional.  She had countless hugs and kisses for them all!

Preceding Mert in death were her husband, Eugene; her siblings: Delmar Allison, Lavern McBride, Viola Fick, Mattie Lee Allison, and two infant siblings, Raymond Allison and Betty Jo Allison.  Survivors include her two daughters: Marcia Daniels and Tami Engeman-Getz; her grandchildren: Jason (Errin) Fick, Alisha (Cory) Mantonya, Derek (Victoria) Engeman and Breana Getz; her great-grandchildren: Jaden Engeman, Cloie Green, Preslynn Fick, Stanton Engeman, Questen Mantonya, Bryce Eaton, Easton Engeman, Landon Engeman, Kien Mantonya and Ellie Engeman.
