Mildred Smith, daughter of William Kinley and Aretha (Sneed) Richardson, was born in Bedison, Missouri on January 21, 1916. During her youth her family lived in Stanberry, Missouri where she graduated from high school. She passed on to heaven January 25, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Liberty, Missouri at the age of 97.

Her greatest joys were: her relationship with God, grandchildren, home, music, springtime flowers and dancing.

She married Denver Smith March 6, 1935 and they were blessed with two daughters, Marilyn Ruth and Mary Kathryn. She lived in Kansas City from 1942 to 1982, working as a dental assistant until retirement in 1978. Appleton City, Missouri then became home where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers: DeForest, Harvey, LaMont, Harlan and Harley, her sister, Nellie and a grandson Bryan West.

Mildred is survived by daughters Marilyn West and Kathryn Roberts; grandchildren John Roberts of Canyon Lake, Texas, David and Janet Roberts of Prairie Village, Kansas, Paul and Kate West of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Brice Roberts, Cole Roberts and Angela West.
