Melba Kathleen (Weant) Dyer, 97, was born in Monegaw Springs, Missouri on July 30, 1927 to Rusty Harrison Weant and Rhoda Marie McKinley.  She was the firstborn of six.  Melba departed this life February 13, 2025 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri.

She was raised in the Monegaw Springs area leaving home after high school graduation to attend Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar.  It was there that she received her teaching degree and taught school for two years before meeting, and marrying Bill Dyer on December 24, 1945.  To this union two sons were born, Harold Lee and David Leon Dyer.

The family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for several years where she was employed by the Watkins company and later Curative Rehabilitation.  They returned to Missouri relocating in the Lowry City area so Melba could care for her mother until her passing on March 7, 1999.  Melba was known to family and friends as "Aunt Kay".  She spent much time lovingly caring for all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Aunt Kay was a dedicated care-giver, looking after those who needed help even when she was in her mid-80's.  She finally gave up her car keys in her late 80's due to failing eyesight, but she still wished  to care for those close to home.

Aunt Kay loved to travel, making friends easily and everywhere she went.  She met her best friend while traveling.  Her last few years were spent at Countryside Estates in Appleton City where she became great buddies with Don and Willie. She loved people and they loved her bubbly personality.  Her family and friends were very important to her throughout her life.

Aunt Kay was preceded in death by her parents Rusty and Marie; husband Bill; son Harold; sisters, Rowena and Dewey; an infant brother and two younger brothers, Harold and Norman; also several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son David (Dianne) Dyer; grandkids Colin and Kaitlin; and many nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
