Garnet May Beaty was born to Jacob and Lula (Street) Anderson on February 4, 1923 in Pomona, California. She passed away November 5, 2009 at Ellet Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at 86 years of age.
May attended school in Pomona, California and Cottage Grove, Oregon. She was a life long member of the Baptist Church wherever she lived.
She and Henry H. Wohlgemuth were united in marriage on July 19, 1942 in Oakland, California. To this union one son, Jake, was born. Henry died on September 2, 1960 in a tractor accident while working for the Missouri Highway Department.
May was married to James M. Beaty on December 20, 1964 in Bogard, Missouri. Jim was a truck driver who owned his own truck and farmed. They worked together on the road and in the fields until Jim's health failed. When they could no longer work, May occupied her time, sewing, quilting, making dolls, crocheting, and embroidering. Jim died in 1991 and in 1999 May moved from Carrollton to Appleton City.
May was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two half-brothers, Otto Anderson and Vernon Anderson, one half-sister Catherine Fesler, and one sister Dorthy Reed. Survivors include her son, Jake Wohlgemuth and wife Diane of Rockville, Missouri; her grandchildren, Kristy Curless and Jim, Marty Wohlgemuth and Sherry, Luke Wohlgemuth and Kim Latham and Steve; and five great-grandchildren.
