Obituary

SERVICES for Mary will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Community of Christ Church (1101 NE Independence Ave., Lee's Summit, MO 64086).

VISITATION will precede the service from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the church

BURIAL will follow the service at Underwood Cemetery in Hume, Missouri (2700-2798 E. Caton Road).

Mary Allyn (Galloway) Barnes, 73, of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away July 7, 2022.  Mary was born January 18, 1949 in Sweet Springs, Missouri the daughter of Allen M. "Bill" and Clara L. (Roberts) Galloway.  She graduated from Lee's Summit High School in 1967 and then attended Emporia State graduating with a BS in business.  Mary worked in the food service industry from cook to customer service manager.  She retired from a managerial position in the automotive department at Walmart in Butler, Missouri where she met her husband, Tom.  Mary and Tom were married June 17, 1990.

Mary had been very active in her church, and especially loved being Waterfront Director at RLDS summer camps.

Mary enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, fishing, cooking and baking.  She was a loving caregiver, helping raise her nieces and nephews, and providing comfort to her mother through her final years.

Preceding Mary in death were her husband, Thomas Barnes; grandparents: Chester and Ida Roberts, and Harrison and Pearl Galloway; parents, Bill and Clara Galloway; parents-in-law, Eustrus and Betty Barnes; sister, Carolyn Chamley; brothers-in-law, Pat Sheehy and Bruce Bredin; nephews, Alan Chamley, Aaron Chamley and Jason West.

Survivors include her siblings: Sylvia West, Julia Bredin, Chester Galloway, Annetta Toomey, and Dean Galloway; son, Thomas (Denise) Barnes II, and their children Ellisa, Kaitlin and Thomas III; Jeff (Rosalie) Barnes and their children Justin and Jessica; Jennifer (Mike) Morse and their children Eric, Magen and Brandon; and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
