3:00 p.m.

The MINISTER will be
Brother Mark Wilkerson.

VISITATION will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 21, 2013 between
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

INTERMENT will be at
Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens
Kansas City, Kansas on Monday morning.

The family requests MEMORIAL gifts to the

Kansas City Hospice House.

Mary An Burns, daughter of Erbie and Dulcina Eison, was born on May 8, 1932, on her grandparents farm near Arvada, CO. She passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the age of 80.

Mary An graduated from Arvada High School in 1950, attended Rockmont Bible College, and in 1956 graduated from Avila School of Nursing in Kansas City, MO. Following graduation, she spent a year in Nebraska with the Baptist home missionaries. Mary An then returned to Kansas City and worked as a Registered Nurse at Bethany Hospital. In 1961, she married Lawrence Burns in Urich, MO and became the proud parent of son, Gary and daughter, Martha. In 1962, they moved to Appleton City, where daughters, Carolyn and Nancy were born in 1962 and 1965. Mary An has been an active member and Sunday School Teacher at the First Baptist Church of Appleton City since 1962.

Over the years Mary An worked as an RN at Ellett Memorial Hospital and the Appleton City School District. She was a member of Green Valley Club, an avid reader and she enjoyed crossword puzzles and games. Her most important roles were as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Preceding Mary An in death were her parents; her brother, Lawrence; and her husband of 43 years, Lawrence Burns.

Survivors include her children: Gary Burns (Kathy), Cleveland, MO, Martha Smith (James), Hollister MO, Carolyn Fischer (Gary Ruggles), Appleton City, MO and Nancy Basham (Richard) St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Kevin Smith of Hollister, Joseph Smith (Kristina) Ridgedale, MO, Jenna Rowher (Adam) Lake Ozark, MO, Sarah Howard of Indianapolis, IN, Jared Fischer, Springfield, MO, Adam Howard, St. Louis; great-grandchildren: Kwetana Smith, Lilly Smith, Banx Rowher and a baby boy Smith due in August.

Mary An will be remembered for her generous spirit, her sharp wit, and her devotion to her family and her Lord. After a very long battle with diabetes, she was blessed with a peaceful entrance into heaven.
