Martin Frederic Rahmeier was born December 2, 1911 near Sylvan Grove, Kansas and went to be with his Lord February 27, 2010 at 98 years of age. He was the youngest son in a family of two girls and four boys. He lived longer than all his siblings and parents. When he was a teen his parents decided to move to eastern Kansas. They settled near Aliceville, Kansas and this is where the Otto Becker family also settled about the same time. So it came about after church youth outings and fun, Martin and Lucille became sweethearts. On April 7, 1937 they were married in St. John's Lutheran Church in Aliceville. Martin sang in the men's choir and Lucille was a Sunday School teacher.
In 1938 their first daughter was born, Joyce Marie (Rahmeier) Klepel. In 1940 Treva Lou (Rahmeier) Bright was born. Martin farmed and milked cows these ten years in Kansas. In 1948 Martin and Lucille moved with their daughters and farm equipment 100 miles east to the area near Rockville, Missouri. They joined Zion Lutheran Church and have remained faithful members.
For 19 years Martin repaired Rich Hill School busses and was a part-time driver. Then he retired on the farm. His hobbies were visiting and doing repair work in his shop as health permitted. His love of cats and other animals is something all his grandchildren remember. He said his favorite Bible verses were Ephesians 2:8 and 9, "For by grace are ye saved, through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast." His favorite hymn was Rock of Ages, Cleft For Me, Let Me Hide Myself in Thee.
Martin is survived by his wife Lucille of 73 years; his two daughters Joyce Klepel and husband Duane and Treva Bright and husband Leon; eight grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three nephews who are Lutheran pastors and five of his grandsons are licensed preachers.
