Martin Brownsberger, Sr., 94, passed away June 6, 2008 at Willow Lane Nursing Home in Butler, Missouri.
Martin was born January 13, 1914, the sixth of nine children born to John Henry and Catherine (Witzel) Brownsberger. Other than during the time he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Martin spent his entire life on the family farm near Germantown, Missouri.
On April 8, 1947 he married Rita Boeding of rural Kansas and four children were born to this union.
Martin was an extremely successful farmer and was active in the farm operation until just a few years ago. He also was an avid hunter and trapper in his earlier days.
Martin was preceded in death by his wife Rita in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Ann Sims and all of his brothers and sisters: Rose Immele, Victoria Goth, Ted, Corona Shelton, Ben, Anna Dougherty, Jerome and Leroy.
He is survived by three children, Martin Brownsberger, Jr. of Montrose, Rose (Rosemary) Silvers of Gladstone, Missouri and Larry Brownsberger of Montrose, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Carolyn Schroeder, Cindy Sims, Michael Sims, Matthew Sims, Justin Sims, Carrie Sims and Geoffrey Silvers.
