FUNERAL SERVICES for Martha Jo will be held at Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia, Missouri at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 18, 2019.
OFFICIATING at the service will be the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Greenwood.
VISITATION will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
INTERMENT will be in the afternoon following the service at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Prairie City, Missouri.
The family suggests any MEMORIAL contributions be made to Bethel United Church of Christ (Concordia) or Zion Lutheran Cemetery (Prairie City), and may be left at Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, MO.
Martha Jo Yoss, daughter of Alfred and Bernice (Borgstadt) Stiegemeyer, passed away February 12, 2019, at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri. She was 80 years old.
Martha was born November 23, 1938, and grew up on the family dairy farm west of Concordia, Missouri. She graduated from the Concordia High School in 1956. Immediately after graduation she moved to Kansas City and went to work for Kansas City Life Insurance Company, working in accounting for the next 40 years. While working, she would still come back to the farm on weekends and days off to help out. She retired September of 1996, in order to help care for her mother.
On May 7, 1966, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia, Missouri, where she was a lifelong member, she married Roy Lawrence Yoss. They celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary in 2016. To this union one son was born: Nicholas William.
Martha loved to travel and eat out. She enjoyed talking to people and was very supportive. She enjoyed flowers and working outside, even pulling weeds. She loved animals and especially her kitties.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred (1984) and Bernice (1997) and her husband Roy (2016).
She is survived by her son Nicholas Yoss, Roy's niece, Linda Heckadon, cousins, Joyce Paul, Betty Rinne, Karen Hughes, Clifton Borgstadt, and Gloria Jane Pennel. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
