Marilyn Ruth West, daughter of Denver L. and Mildred R. (Richardson) Smith, was born in Bethany, Missouri December 15, 1935. She departed this life April 22, 2016 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home in Appleton City, Missouri at 80 years of age.

Most of Marilyn's life was spent in Kansas City, Missouri where she was employed as a dental assistant. On November 5, 1955 Marilyn was united in marriage to Kenneth E. West but they later divorced. During their marriage they were blessed with two sons. Kenneth passed away in 1989. In 1992 Marilyn moved to Appleton City to be near her parents. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton City. She was a talented artist and sculptor.

Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents, Denver and Mildred Smith and her two sons, Paul E. West and Bryan Gene West.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Kathryn Roberts of Liberty, Missouri; two nephews, David and John Roberts; and one granddaughter, Sarah West.
