Edna May "Marie" Hendrickson was born July 20, 1934 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Lewis and Alice V. (Gardner) Darnell. She passed away October 20, 2009 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri October 20, 2009 at 75 years of age.
While living in Rich Hill, Missouri Marie met and later married Harold Lee Hendrickson on September 19, 1960 and to this union one son was born. The Hendricksons made their home in Appleton City, Missouri until 1960 when they moved to St. Joseph, Missouri. Marie did some baby sitting and worked for a short time as a waitress but dedicated most of her time to being a wife and mother. In 1975 they moved to Appleton City, Missouri where they have remained throughout their lifetime.
Marie enjoyed bowling with her husband and friends. She also liked putting jigsaw puzzles together, keeping up on all the "news about town", and going to yard sales. Marie kept watch over her neighbor's homes while they were vacationing or just out of town. She was always available to keep an eye on things for others who needed her help. She also liked to help Harold plant and care for their vegetable garden.
Preceding Marie in death were her parents and six brothers, two of them being Lonnie Gardner and Marvin Lazzelle. Survivors include her husband Harold of almost 50 years, her son Leroy Hendrickson and wife Kellie of Appleton City, one step-grandson Andrew Bryant and fiancée Anni of Kansas City, two grandsons, Cory Hendrickson and Bryan Hendrickson both of Appleton City, one great-granddaughter Kenzie Jo Bryant, and one brother Richard Lazzelle.
