Lura Lucile Bollweg, the first child born to William Leonard and Rosa Henrietta (Bartz) Hammer, was born December 2, 1913 in Bates County on a farm near Prairie City, Missouri. She passed away December 17, 2006 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home in Appleton City, Missouri at 93 years of age.
Lucile lived in the Prairie City and Rockville, Missouri area most of her life attending Bever School then Rockville High School. She was united in marriage to Victor Patrick Kern on July 18, 1934 in Lowry City, Missouri and they made their home on a farm near Prairie City. To this union two children were born. They moved back to the home place after her father died in 1941. After Victor's passing in 1943 Lucile moved back to Rockville and worked as the school cook at Rockville for eleven years.
On December 13, 1959 Lucile and William Bollweg were married at Pleasant Gap. They lived in the Pleasant Gap community until 1983 at which time they moved to Appleton City where they have remained. Lucile and her sister, Betty, operated a ceramic shop out of Lucile's home at Pleasant Gap for ten years later moving it to Appleton City in the early 1980's where she demonstrated her talent for painting and helped others to learn how to make and paint ceramics as well. Two more of her many talents were crocheting and cooking. She was a loving wife and mother, caring for her family was important to her. Lucile was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Appleton City.
Preceding Lucile in death were her parents, her first husband Victor, a sister Ilene McCombs, a son-in-law Andrew Siegismund, and a step-son Richard Bollweg. Survivors include her husband William of the home; her daughter Margie Lou Siegismund of Rockville, Missouri; her son William Ray Kern of Butler, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Marlene Dehler of Appleton City, Missouri and Janet Larson of Denver Colorado; a stepson Lyle Bollweg of Golden, Colorado; three sisters, Wilma Dodds of Butler, Missouri, Leola Jagels and Betty Klinksick both of Appleton City, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren;. 5 step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grand-children; and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.
