Loreta Mae (Cunningham) Harmon was born August 24, 1923 in the Monegaw Springs, Missouri area and passed away April 27, 2010 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the eldest of two children born to Frank Eli and Louise Agnes (Sproull) Cunningham. As a youth her family moved to the Lindale community near Appleton City, Missouri where Loreta attended school and later graduated from Appleton City High School. She lived in Appleton City until 1955 when she married Harold Edward Harmon on October 22, 1955. Around that time they relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where Loreta worked as a seamstress for J.C. Penney about ten years and later for National Fidelity Insurance Company.
Loreta had been a member of the Bader Memorial Christian Church in Kansas City. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and flower gardening earlier in her life. After Harold's passing August 16, 1995, Loreta began taking bus trips that were planned through the church. She very much enjoyed travelling and took numerous trips with her sister-in-law, Opal Proctor, who did the planning and was the tour guide.
Preceding Loreta in death were her parents, her husband Harold Edward Harmon, a son, Charles Franklin Reasoner and her brother, Jack Cunningham. Survivors include daughter Nora Riffie of North Kansas City, Missouri, son Ray Reasoner of Kansas City, Missouri and daughter-in-law Dovie Lowry. Also surviving are Kurk Lowry and family; Angela Eck and family; five grandchildren, Richard Reasoner and Jeff Reasoner both of Springhill, Kansas, Crystel Fowler of Raytown, Missouri, Becky Marvel of Lawson, Missouri and Jennifer Russell of Gardner, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, William Harmon, Gauge Fowler and Colt Fowler; and five step-grandchildren.
