Lola Fern Merryfield, daughter of Delbert Rea and Gladys Marie (Foster) Snodgrass, was born May 25, 1946 in Butler, Missouri. She passed away quietly at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri March 27, 2009 at 62 years of age.
Fern had lived in the Butler and Appleton City area throughout her lifetime. Fern moved to Tulsa Oklahoma in 1987 for a ten year sojourn. In 1997 she returned home to the Bates County area. Ms. Merryfield worked as an office manager in Bates County Memorial Hospital for 25 years. Fern loved to read. She spent many happy hours engrossed in her cherished books. Ms. Merryfield had a great love of her flowers. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and the apple of her eye.
Preceding Fern in death were her parents, two still-born sons, and one niece Cindy Snodgrass. Survivors include her daughter Tina Roberts and husband Craig of Appleton City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ashlyn Turner and husband Mitch of North Carolina, and Brett Roberts of Appleton City, Missouri; a brother Don Snodgrass and wife Evadean of Butler, Missouri; one sister Freda Barbour and husband David of England; two nephews, Scott Paxton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Brian Farley of Leawood, Kansas; three nieces, Debbie Colin of Butler, Missouri, Vickie Young of Butler, Missouri, and Sherrie Snodgrass of Butler, Missouri; several great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as her aunt and loyal friend Ann Jalene Snodgrass.
