Lloyd Smith Ramalia, age 96, the son of Henry Garfield and Edna Ramalia, was born March 2, 1911 in Leigh, Nebraska. He passed away October 8, 2007 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri.
Lloyd farmed around the Spruce, Missouri area from 1934 until 1947, moving back to Nebraska where he worked for the Brunswick Lumber and Coal Company for 17 years. On April 20, 1941 Lloyd and Lela Elizabeth Cowan were united in marriage at Pleasant Home Baptist Church near Appleton City and to this union two children were born. In 1965 they moved to Norfolk, Nebraska where he worked as assistant manager for Master Mart, a hardware store, until 1977 when he retired and moved to Appleton City, Missouri.
Mr. Ramalia was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying football and baseball. He also liked to garden. One of his favorite memories was of his high school football team which was only scored on once his senior year and that happened in the very last game of the season.
Preceding Lloyd in death were his parents, his wife, and three brothers, one an infant, Everett and Gordon Ramalia. Survivors include his son, Gerald Ramalia of Warsaw, Missouri and daughter, Sharon Warneke of Tilden, Nebraska, three grandchildren, Nick Warneke, Tammy Warneke and Rhonda Wright and numerous great-grandchildren.
