Linus Clement Westhusing, son of Louis A. and Caroline (Cook) Westhusing, was born July 4, 1922 in Germantown, Missouri. He departed this life February 29, 2008 at Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Linus lived and farmed most of his life in the Germantown area except for the 3½ years spent serving in the Army. He fought in the Pacific theater and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Linus and Dorothy Wagner were united in marriage May 10, 1949 at St. Ludger's Catholic Church in Germantown. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary this May.
Mr. Westhusing was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #8820 and also a member of the Knight's of Columbus. He was an honest and hardworking man who loved raising cattle and farming. Linus always took a special interest in caring for his roses and flowers. He also enjoyed hunting and was a good neighbor and friend.
Preceding Linus in death were his parents, two brothers, David and Clyde "Bud" Westhusing, one sister Eunice Schussler, two sisters-in-law, Hazel and Caroline Westhusing, and a grandson-in-law Tony Komer. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of the home; four children, Mike and Lynn Westhusing of Montrose, Missouri, Shirley and David Lowe of Clinton, Missouri, Dale and Vicki Westhusing, and Larry Westhusing all of Montrose; two brothers, Elmer Westhusing of Urich, Missouri and Glen and Alice Westhusing of Montrose; a sister Arlene and husband Greg Schussler of Deepwater; a brother-in-law Cletus Schussler of Butler, Missouri; and eleven grandchildren, Daniel and Doug Noakes, Nick Westhusing, Andrea Westhusing, Sara Jane Komer, Matt Lowe, Megan Lowe, Greg, Phil, Andy and Katie Westhusing; eleven great-grandchildren and one due in July.
