The SERVICE for Lillie will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

The MINISTER will be Brother Mark Wilkerson.

VISITATION will be held at the funeral home Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. preceding the service.

INTERMENT will be at the Roscoe Cemetery in Roscoe, Missouri.

MEMORIAL donations be made to the Roscoe Cemetery Association, as Lil had requested.

Lillie Josephine Bailey, 99, daughter of Cyrus L. and Laura (Bruce) Wasson, was born October 30, 1915 in St. Clair County, Missouri near Roscoe where she spent her early life. She departed this life at Countryside Estates, residential care facility in Appleton City, Missouri September 26, 2015.
Lillie accepted the Lord into her life in 1939 and was baptized by Rev. C.J. Bybee, the county Baptist missionary at that time. Her Christian faith always helped her in any difficult situation in life.
She was married to Hermie Bailey October 20, 1944. They lived on their farm in the Mt. Hope community north of Appleton City for 23 years. They retired from farming and moved to Appleton City in 1967.
Hermie preceded Lillie in death April 27, 1973. She continued to live in their home and was employed at Appleton City School as assistant cook for 13 years before retiring at age 70. She enjoyed her years of employment at the school and acquired a friendly relationship with her co-workers, many of the school's personnel and students.
One of Lillie's domestic interests was babysitting several children in the Appleton City area. Among these included the three Compton brothers, Jonathan, Joshua and Jordan. She became "Nanny Lil" to them through their infant and childhood years when she was needed and they continued to have much respect for her the rest of her life.
Lillie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton City and attended church while health allowed. She had been a member of the Mt. Hope Rural Home Improvement Club since 1946.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers: James Austin, Ray L., Gyp F., Jayson A., and Chester L. Wasson and three sisters: Katie Bledsoe, Jennie Green and Violet Souther. She is survived by a several nieces and nephews that fulfilled her life as her family, also other relatives and a legion of friends.
Anyone who knew or just met Lilly was always greeted with her sweet smile and friendly words of encouragement. She was a truly gracious and lovely woman in word and deed.
