The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Thomas will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in
Appleton City, Missouri on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
The MINISTER will be
Brother Jim Knight.
VISITATION will be held
at the funeral home an hour before the service on
Saturday, February 16, 2013 between
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
INTERMENT will be in the
Appleton City Cemetery.
The family suggests MEMORIAL contributions to either
Appleton City Cemetery or
Heartland Hospice (Butler).
Leslie E. "Les" Thomas, son of George E. and Winnifred N. (Cockrell) Thomas, was born March 31, 1941 in Appleton City, Missouri. He passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 71 years of age.
Les lived all his life in Appleton City until moving to Willow Lane Nursing Home in Butler, Missouri a few years ago. He was united in marriage to Virginia Barrows and they were blessed with three children. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Appleton City, Missouri.
Les worked at Wells and Irving in Montrose, Missouri; Barrows Chevrolet in Appleton City, Missouri as an auto mechanic for 25 years and at Tracker Marine in Clinton, Missouri before retiring. While working at Barrows Chevrolet, Les was also Appleton City Police Chief.
Les loved fishing at Appleton City's City Lake and going quail hunting. He was an avid fan of western movies. He loved watching John Wayne movies while eating chocolate chip cookies and drinking Pepsi. He also loved spending time with his grandkids.
Les was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Denise Thomas and granddaughter, Kristin Thomas.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Thomas and wife Nelma and Brian Thomas; two sisters, Carolyn Lampkin and husband Bud and Judy Artz and husband Charles; one brother, Bobby Thomas and wife Peggy; two grandsons, Jarret Thomas and Kyron Thomas; one granddaughter, Kimber Thomas; two nieces, Debbie Lampkin and Amy Newkirk and husband Brad; one nephew, Steven Thomas and wife Jackie; along with many friends and caregivers.
