Lena was born March 1, 1919 in Appleton City, Missouri. She passed from this life into the next August 1, 2006 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home. She was the daughter of Frank Robert and Elizabeth Irene (Routsong) Henselmann. She had one brother, James Wendle Henselmann.
Lena's entire life was spent in the Appleton City, Montrose area. She graduated from Appleton City High School. Lena married Luther Huenefeldt in 1940 in Warsaw, Missouri and they made their home in the Montrose area. Lena loved sewing and cooking. She was a member of the Fidalis Club and the White Hall Club. She was a home loving woman and took great pride in her flowers. She could never have too many and loved trading the different varieties with her friends. You could find her early in the morning weeding and watering.
She worked along with her husband farming and for many years they both worked at the Calhoun Hatchery in Montrose. For many years she wrote a community interest column for the local newspapers.
Lena Marie was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Montrose and the United Church Women group. Family and friends were very important to Lena, and they will miss her, but will remember the love they shared and the joy she brought to their lives.
Lena Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Luther, in 1980, and her brother, Jim Henselmann and his wife Nola. Survivors include her three children, Betty and husband Fletcher Reichert of Appleton City, Missouri, Donald Lee Huenefeldt and wife Juanita of Butler, Missouri, and Linda and husband Jerry Cook of Hurricane, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Pamela and husband Bill Ellison of Kansas City, Missouri, Toye and husband John Kieffer of Shawnee, Kansas, Shawn Huenefeldt of Overland Park, Kansas, Kevin Huenefeldt of Kansas City, Missouri, Danielle Cook of Hurricane, West Virginia, Jennifer Baxter of Kansas City, Missouri and Michelle Fisher of Hurricane West Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Ben and Aimee Herndon, Andy, Ashley and Jamie Kieffer and Cameron Fisher.
