Lawrence C. Jones of Appleton City, Missouri passed away at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri March 18, 2007 at the age of 78 years.
Mr. Jones was born in Garland, Kansas the son of Joseph Worthy and Lula Mae (Woolridge) Jones. He had lived in Appleton City since 1962. Lawrence worked as a heavy equipment operator for P. & M. Coal Company from 1962 until 1967 later working for Peabody Coal Company until its closing in November 1987. He was a member of the United Mine Workers.
Lawrence and Evelyn Elizabeth Carpenter spent 57 years of married life together being blessed with two daughters. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren in recent years. Camping and gardening were his hobbies.
Preceding Lawrence in death were his parents, his wife, one great-grandson Conner Tenholder and eleven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his daughters, Linda and husband Paul Tenholder of Montrose, Missouri and Susan Jones of Appleton City, Missouri; two sisters, Helen Owens of Independence, Missouri and Flo Gooden of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Greg Tenholder of Stillwell, Kansas and Matt Tenholder of Montrose, Missouri; and two granddaughters, Connie Rapp of Springfield, Missouri and Lori Burch of Montrose, Missouri.
