Laura Ellen Blew, daughter of Ashel L. and Mary Odessa (McCool) Hart, was born in the White Oak community near Urich, Missouri September 28, 1911 and departed this life December 7, 2006 at her home in Kansas City, Missouri at 95 years of age.
Laura and Albert Edwin "A.E." "Buster" Blew were united in marriage September 30, 1933 at the Montrose Cumberland Presbyterian Church and they were blessed with one daughter, Jean. Laura and A.E. made their home in Montrose, Missouri until 1996 when they moved to Kansas City, Missouri to be nearer to Jean. Laura had been a member of White Oak Methodist Church when she was young, later transferring to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Montrose. She was an avid church worker always interested in participating in what was happening in her church. She was also a member of and Carp Diem Card Club.
Mrs. Blew enjoyed being outdoors especially in her garden and she also liked to cook. She was always glad for her friends to visit and her door was always open to anyone who came by. Laura helped to care for her mother in her older years.
Preceding Laura in death were her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Alice Harms and Lula Miller. Survivors include her daughter, Jean McHenry of Kansas City, Missouri; one grandson, Brian McHenry and wife Susie of Kansas City, Missouri; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Ann and Macie Ellen McHenry also of Kansas City; and one brother, Arthur Lee Hart and wife Marian of Grand Junction, Colorado.
