The family suggests any memorial donations be given to The Shriners Hospital or Children's Mercy Hospital.

Kay Jean Garrison passed away peacefully at Citizens Memorial Hospital, February 17, 2019.  She was the daughter of Stanley and Luella (Scheer) Patrow, born on February 2, 1948 in Big Fork, Minnesota.

Kay always had an intense interest in horses and would love her visits to grandpa Gus Sheer's farm.  It was there that her lifelong love and involvement with anything related to horses was born.  As the oldest child she would lead others in her always imaginative playtime activities.

Whether turning a fallen tree into a Commando Cody rocket ship for all to take a trip to the sun, to galloping around the yard as a wild stallion, there was never a dull moment during the childhood years.

The family moved from Jay Cooke State Park to St. Croix State Park in Hickley, Minnesota, in 1952 (her father was employed by the Minnestoa Department. of Conservation) then back to Big Fork in 1961, when her father was transferred to Scenic State Park. In 1966 she graduated high school there. During her teen years she pursued art and music, while continuing her love of horses.  Kay also possessed a great sense of dry humor, which worked well with a family that always appreciated wit.

After graduation she moved as far south as the money in her pocket would take her in search of warmer weather and to follow that love of horses.  She ended up in Overland Park, Kansas, where she met and married Ronald LeGrotte, and they were married until his passing in 1976.  Together they had two children: Rick and Michelle.  She continued to follow her horse love and worked in horse stables training, teaching and always working to perfect her abilities.

In 1991 she met Roger Garrison from Rockville, Missouri, and in 1992 she moved there where she lived till her passing.  They were married in 1995.  She was known as the pony lady and could be seen riding or driving all around town, or out in her beautiful flower gardens.  Her greatest memories were showing ponies Heartland Discovery, Knights Tennessee Tuxedo, and caring for Carnations Blazing Glory until he passed.

She was as tough as they come, passionate about things she loved and could draw horses in her sleep.  She will be missed.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael (Brenda) Patrow and sister Linda (Roger) Grant.

She is survived by her husband Roger Garrison, Brother Jim Patrow, son Rick (Daniella) LeGrotte, daughter Michelle (Larry) Barcus and one grandson Trent LeGrotte.
